Secretary's Soapbox

There should be a report on Palmscon elsewhere in this issue, but I have to say that it was an experience! Despite various trials and tribulations we managed a good weekend of gaming and the experience that Peter Card, Nick Barker ad I had observing the big Friday disco would be difficult to imagine in any shape or form! The gaming room was a tight fit with some very strange problems i.e. no air-conditioning, but a window that refused to close and the whole room went very dark in the evenings and we had the pleasure of extra standing lamps to trip over. Okay we all gained by not paying for dinner (but watch this space), but I think it fair to say that we won't be rushing back there in a hurry. For those of you living down south please keep looking for a new venue. We had a couple of new people stop by and hopefully they will be joining up shortly. Otherwise the usual suspects and the usual games, plus my 11 year old son appearing on the Sunday morning to teach dad how the games should be played. If he starts drinking fairly soon I might as well stop coming to the conventions. Oh yes, that was the other problem. The beer was far too expensive. I actually went to bed sober on the Friday! Whilst my name was given to those of you who received chaser subscription reminders, I don't actually want your money. However, Barry does! A quick reminder - for subs go to Barry, whether cheques, cash, IOUs etc., for game starts go to Jeff and for other things, including new members, please come to me. If in doubt also come to me. I'm notoriously slow at replying, but sometimes I awake with a start and go berserk on the correspondence. But don't hold your breath. The officers do talk to one another and eventually we get there. Knutsford is booked for March - well done Keith yet again. I reckon this is our 6th or 7th visit, so it must meet our needs for us to keep returning. If you want to come and try a convention for the first time, try Knutsford. We would probably call this one the friendly con, just don't expect chandeliers or expensive beer (thank God). Bookings to Keith please.

New members: Paul Sheppard (9353), Tim Alanthwaite (9082)

Changes of Address: Jarkko Suvinen., Dave Marsden (does he never stay still?).
