Treasurer's Report 2002Barrington Beavis. Firstly, those with a keen eye may notice that the opening balance is 2p higher than last year’s closing balance. I have not bothered to discover how the 2p discrepancy arose. I like the society to normally have a running balance in excess of £1,000-00 and this is well illustrated this year by the two items of exceptional expenditure, being the cost of the autumn convention at the Palms Hotel and the purchase of a second-hand photocopier. The committee tries to hold one of our two conventions in the southern half of England and this year the only suitable venue cost us £400-00 so we made an attendance charge of £10-00 per person which gave us a net cost of £175-00 for the convention. I believe we are unlikely to return to the Palms. I have heard of other conventions where the costs have escalated enormously as we are often in competition with wedding receptions. We have our own photocopier last purchased in January 1997 and looked after by John Warren. This year, after a visit from the repairman, it was pronounced broken beyond economic repair and so we bought a second-hand replacement. The secretary's 2002 expenses of £23.80 will be included in 2003, as they have not yet been paid. I should like to remind members that annual subs of £10-00 are now due. Cheques should be made payable to AHIKS (NOT B. Beavis). Please note my change of address and an SAE would be appreciated. For those living on the European mainland payment of 15 can be made to Herbert Gratz, Gersthoferstr. 93/24 A-1180, Vienna, Austria. In this case ONLY cheques should be payable to H. Gratz. If anyone is in doubt if they have already paid for 2003 I can be contacted by email. |
