Secretary's SoapboxChris Geggus We
had a very quiet Spring Convention at the Swan, but it was nice to see one or
two old friends who looked in to say hello, as well as play a game or two. The
Swan itself was fine , so we will be going back there next year I hope. However
we are still in the dark for an Autumn convention in October, preferably down
south. I do now have a list of Youngs hotels, so I will be ringing round very
shortly. If anyone knows anywhere that can handle us and is within range of the
M25 please let me know. Time
for a membership push chaps. I always worry when we do not have any new members
to report. My suggestion this time is for our European members to push for some
new faces from their countries or nearby in Europe. I reckon that I have chased
most of the known British gamers, but there must be a lot of solo gamers playing
away throughout Europe and these are the people we need to find. If you know
anybody or have names and addresses, either write to them yourselves or if that
is difficult let me know and I'll drop them a flyer. I have no shame or modesty
- I will write to anyone! Some
good news to impart. One of our longest serving members, Ian Daglish, has had a
book published recently. Even if this is not your area of interest (not mine for
example), at least go into your local library and ask them to order the book. I
have done that a lot recently and you only get charged 90p at Brentwood Library.
All these orders should help boost the sales. Who knows, we could push it into
the top seller charts for factual books! The title is " Normandy -
Operation Bluecoat - The British Armoured Breakout ", published April 2003
by Leo Cooper. Number is ISBN 0 85052 912 3. Good luck to Ian. I am sure that he
will also autograph copies at the next convention.
